Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins
Economy
On the economy, the campaign centers on energy costs and the state's fiscal balance sheet, calling for all Alaska energy sources — renewables, hydro, and natural gas — to be developed together, for Railbelt utilities to coordinate to bring down electricity prices, and for a long-sought Alaska gas pipeline to be pursued with industry partners. It also commits to protecting the Permanent Fund from being drawn down further and to making sure oil and gas producers, specifically Hilcorp, pay corporate income tax comparable to what ConocoPhillips pays.
Health
On health care, the campaign says it would protect Medicaid expansion, work with tribal health organizations to draw down federal health dollars, expand telehealth and the scope of practice for nurse practitioners and physician assistants, grow in-home care for seniors and people with disabilities, and crack down on excessive prescription drug markups.
Agriculture/Food
Framed around Alaska's fisheries rather than row-crop agriculture, the platform calls for reducing bottom-trawl bycatch, keeping commercial fishing permits in the hands of Alaskans, fully funding the Commercial Fishing Revolving Loan Fund and CFAB for new and young fishermen, restoring crashed Chinook salmon runs on the Yukon and Kuskokwim, and investing in port and harbor infrastructure.
Security
The campaign pledges more funding for shelters and victim services to address domestic violence and sexual assault, expansion of sexual-assault response teams statewide, dedicated investigative resources for missing and murdered Indigenous people, and full funding for police, fire, and the Village Public Safety Officer program. It also proposes AI-specific measures — a moratorium on new data centers pending legislation, mandatory disclosure of AI-generated political ads, and holding AI companies liable in Alaska courts for harms their products cause.
Education
The campaign says it would fully fund Alaska's schools, pursue a constitutional amendment for forward-funded education to end annual budget uncertainty, keep funding for sports and electives intact, ban cell phones in classrooms, raise teacher pay, and reinstate a defined-benefit retirement plan to stop teachers leaving the state.
Infrastructure
On infrastructure, the platform favors essential maintenance of roads, airports, bridges, and ports over "wasteful megaprojects," and calls for rebuilding the Alaska Marine Highway ferry fleet through general-obligation bonds under a new, non-political governing board. On housing specifically, it proposes cutting permitting red tape, opening state land for development, easing rules on manufactured and modular homes, and taxing vacant homes owned by nonresidents.
Governance
The campaign commits to reinstating campaign contribution limits, stripping state corporations of the power to make corporate political donations, appointing qualified rather than politically-connected people to state boards, banning foreign-funded junkets for officials, and protecting reproductive rights, LGBTQ Alaskans, and Alaska Natives from discrimination.
